John Herety - Directeur Sportif
John Herety is one of the countries most prolific managers. A former National Road Race Champion and Olympian at the 1980 Moscow Games; Herety first began managing teams while still racing, acting as rider/manager for the Percy Bilton team in 1986.
Herety then took over the role of managing the Great Britain national team. Managing the squad through two famously successful Olympics (Sydney and Athens), three Commonwealth Games as well as numerous track and road World Championships between 1998 and 2005.
In 2006 Herety became manager of the then Recycling.co.uk team, quickly taking the team to the number one ranked spot in the UK. A position that the team; in its current iteration as Rapha Condor Sharp, still holds today.
After being in the sport in several different managerial roles since the mid-eighties Herety has had an influence on the careers of many of the countries top cyclists over the past two decades, including many of Britain’s current Tour de France stars.
As well as Kristian House’s 2009 National Road Race title, Herety has guided teams to victory on three separate occasions at the Ras in Ireland, and over 100 other wins over the past six years.
As a rider, John Herety was once chastised by his fellow riders for starting road-races in a skinsuit, how things have changed.
