Graham Briggs

Graham Briggs is a returnee to Rapha Condor Sharp having first ridden for the team in 2008 when it was known as Rapha Condor Recycling.

Graham began his cycling career at the age of 15 on a mountain bike when a Saturday job in his local bike shop in Rossington spurred him on to give the sport a go. Initially his racing was confined to cyclo-cross, but once old enough to ride with the Juniors he quickly progressed to road racing. In his second year in the Junior ranks he took third place in the National Road Race Championship, an early pointer of what was to come.

Moving up to the senior ranks in 2003 was one of the early highlights for Graham. He was selected for the under-23 World Championships in Hamilton, Canada, where he raced alongside one of his current Rapha Condor Sharp team mates, Tom Southam. This international recognition provided a springboard for a place in a French squad for 2004; VC Beauvais.

Despite early success and a win in his second race, Paris – Evreux, Graham struggled to settle in France. He returned to the UK in 2005 where he took a little time away from the sport and worked as a gym instructor. However, the sport began to exercise its gravitational pull once again and the following year (after a little tutelage and guidance from John Herety) Graham was back for 2008 with Rapha Condor Recycling. From there he spent a year with the Candi TV team but is now back in black for 2010 in the latest iteration of the team – Rapha Condor Sharp.

In 2010 Graham is looking forward to playing his part in the team for the Tour Series, something he enjoyed in 2009 when he took victory in the opening round in Milton Keynes. In his own words this season is all about “just winning as much as possible“. Most of all he is just happy to be back in the team where he says, “as a rider you’re looked after here better than anywhere I’ve ridden“.
