Dean Downing
Dean Downing is the grand old man of the Rapha Condor Sharp team. One of the British cycling scenes most popular and irrepressible figures; Dean has done a lot since he decided to quite his job as an engineer and try his luck as a full time rider.
Dean is an aggressive and passionate racer, often coming up with a win in the most trying, and least expected circumstances. Two wins in the National Criterium Championships, as well as four individual wins in the Tour Series, the 2007 Lincoln GP and an incredible stage win in the 2008 Saschen Tour, are just some the highlights of his very impressive palmares.
Dean has been an essential element of the Rapha Condor set-up since 2007 when he was one of the first riders to race in the distinctive black kit. His reliable winning ways have also been instrumental in the teams continued success, always managing to pick up several big wins each year.
He is also never short of a word or two about his cherished daughter Lily Eliza, who will be two on July 8th 2011.
Dean also has a younger brother who races.
