The elder of the Downing brothers, Dean was one of only three riders to win a round of the Premier Calendar Series in 2008, taking victory at the opening event, the Bikeline 2-Day.
Dean also donned the jersey of National Circuit Race Champion for the second time in his career, after taking victory at Beverley. Deano also wore the leaders jersey at the Sachsen Tour in Germany, and the Points Jersey in the FDB Insurance RAS during 2008.

- Your best moment in cycling?
- Winning Lincoln GP 2007 and racing a madison in germany with my childhood hero, Belgium 6 day Legend Etienne De Wilde in 2001.
- Worst moment in cycling?
- Crashing in Philadelphia 2005 and breaking my right thumb and smashing my left collarbone, needing 2 operations and a plate in each and needing 6 weeks out. Worst thing was i didnt get to run up the famous steps up to the Museum where Rocky Balboa finishes his training in the movies.

- Tour of Langkawi, the hotels were amazing.

- Adam Sandler!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Become a regular television celebrity on ITV4 at the TOUR SERIES crits.
