Former Australian champion Lapthorne joins Rapha Condor for 2009 from the German Sparkasse team, after two years with the Australian Drapac-Porsche team.
Undoubtedly, Lapthorne’s biggest victory came in January 2007, when the rider launched a surprise attack with two laps to go, soloing to victory in Ballarat, Victoria to take the national title ahead of a host of current ProTour riders such as Baden Cooke, Hilton Clarke and Matt Lloyd.
Lapthorne recently finished 15th in the Australian Road Race Championships.

- Worst moment in cycling?
- Pulling out of the Tour de Normandie last season(2009). My first tour riding with Rapha Condor Sharp and fell sick mid way through the race. I'm hoping the outcome with be different this year.
- Favourite race you've ridden?
- The Japan Cup. Amazing atmosphere and a great race to finish the season off.
- Who would play you in a movie of your life?
- Tom Southam. Who else?

- Tour of Japan, Tour of Ireland.

- How do you relax?
- Normally on Tom's chesterfield couch watching channel Dave topgear repeats.
- I am a cyclist because…?
- I never planned on being a full time cyclist but just fell into it. I couldn't be happier with the choice I made to race my bike with a British team.
- If I weren't a cyclist I'd be…?
- Still trying to complete my Uni Degree. I'll get there one day…
- An interesting fact people are unlikely to know about you:
- I spent most of my teenage years growing up in Beijing China. I didn't race my bike much back then but still enjoy getting the chance to stop by when I'm racing through out Asia.
