Back to Black is better for Rapha Condor Sharp

After plunging out of the lead in the overall standings at the Tour Series in Portsmouth on Tuesday, Rapha Condor Sharp bounced back in style last night in Exeter as they took 1st, 2nd and 5th in the sprint finish to win the event. They jump back up to 2nd in the overall standings and close the gap to 4 points on leaders Motorpoint.
Dean Downing was first across the line, finishing ahead of team mate, Zak Dempster, with Dean Windsor the third counting Rapha Condor Sharp rider in 5th place.
Speaking after the race, team manager John Herety said that the riders had upped their game after the disappointment of Portsmouth:
“We had what you could call a frank exchange of views after Portsmouth, we had some bad luck but they made some big errors there and everyone went into tonights race knowing they were fighting for their place in the Tour Series squad. To their credit they responded the only way you can, individually and as a team, they were superb tonight.”
With Motorpoint struggling and edged into 4th place by Endura and Cyclepremier.com, the boys in black closed the gap between first and second to just 4 points. However, John Herety still thinks the overall is out of reach for the team.
“To be honest it’s still for the other teams to lose rather than us to win. All we can do is keep getting out there, winning bike races and entertaining the crowds.”
