Tour of the North · 06/04/10
At the Tour of the North in Ulster the racing got underway on Friday 2 April with a prologue time trial where Matt Cronshaw took 2nd place. On the opening road stage it was Dean Downing who again came close to victory as he took 2nd place behind Phillip Lavery who won his second stage in a row. The team’s perseverance finally paid off on stage 3 as Matt Cronshaw won from an eight man breakaway that dominated the 80 mile stage.
That success was followed up on the final stage of the race as the teams ‘other’ Dean, Dean Windsor, stepped up to the plate for victory beating local rider Phillip Lavery while Matt Cronshaw once again cleaned up in the bunch sprint to reinforce his reputation as one of the best up and coming talents in British cycling.
