Tour of Normandy 2010 stage 3 · 25/03/10

Another combative day of racing for the Rapha Condor Sharp team on stage 3 of the Tour of Normandy. Today saw the riders take on a split stage with the morning seeing the peloton ride 83km between Forges les Eaux and Grand Couronne whilst the afternoon brought a further 72km from Grand Couronne to Ebleuf sur Seine.

Following the example set by Tom in yesterdays stage it was Dan Craven who went on the attack in the morning, staying away with one other rider for the majority of the stage before being caught on the run in to the finish. The stage ended once again in a bunch sprint with Daniel Schorn eventually taking the victory ahead of Jimmy Casper. Dan’s efforts weren’t totally in vain however as he picked up the Eco Jersey for his troubles out on the road. Info is sketchy as to how this jersey is won (and for that matter retained) but no matter, we’re on the podium and that means we’re winning something. A stage win can’t be far away surely!

In the afternoon more aggressive racing followed but again it was a bunch sprint that rounded off the day, this time Jimmy Casper went one better to take the stage win whilst Zak Dempster was the highest placed RCS rider in 12th place.

Tomorrow sees the riders tackle a 188km stage from Elbeuf sur Seine – Flers.
