The routes
There are two routes. A short route of 58 miles and a longer, hillier route of 85 miles.
Route maps can be found here or at the bottom of this page.
Both routes start at the Solaris Centre on New South Promenade, Blackpool, and head south toward Lytham St. Annes and Clifton then turn toward North Preston, before heading onto Longridge. There, there will be a turning point at 26 miles for the short route along with the option of taking the climb that will add 10 miles onto your route. There is a feed station at 30 miles for riders not opting for the climb which also doubles up as the second feed for the long route. There is also a feed station specifically for the riders taking the optional climb.
Riders opting for the long route will carry on from Longridge and head over and around Calder Fell in an anti-clockwise direction. There will be a first feed station at 32.5 miles before the climbing starts. Riders will be able to take in some breathtaking views on the west side of the climb before heading south toward Claughton. At 56 miles there will be the second feed station for the long route, then riders of both routes will join up and head toward Broughton onto Inskip, Elswick, Wrea Green and eventually back into Blackpool.
Both routes will take in some lovely quiet country roads and beautiful Lancashire countryside that follow the National Cycle Networks
