Team line-up for the Bikeline Two Day · 11/03/09
The Bikeline Two Day is the first event in British Cycling’s Premier Calendar, and is to be held in Hope in Flintshire, Wales.
There are two last minute changes to the published Rapha Condor line-up. Due to a minor injury to Dan Craven (who is having treatment in South Africa) and illness for Mike Rudling, the team manager John Herety has brought in two of the team’s star signings for 2009 in Tom Southam and former Aussie champion, Darren Lapthorne.
Both riders know each other well living in Victoria (Australia) and whilst Tom is a seasoned pro in British style racing, it will be Darren’s debut in a Premier calendar event.
Both riders were being rested between racing in South Africa last week and a forthcoming stage race in Normandy (France) but have had to be drafted into the team for this weekends Premier Calendar season opener.
Tom rode the Bikeline race last year and after a series of races in South Africa and training camps in 2009, should be better prepared to help the team take on the other strong squads who will be going into battle this Saturday. Meanwhile, Darren’s palmeres is an impressive one with victories going back to 2005 and as well as the Australian national title, Darren has also won a stage of the Bay crits in Victoria, races which are always difficult to win with the presence of many of Australia’s top pros.
The line-up will now be:
- Dean Downing
- Kristian House
- Ben Greenwood
- Rhys Lloyd
- Matt Cronshaw
- Liam Holohan
- Darren Lapthorne
- Tom Southam
