Rapha Condor Announce Tour of Ireland Selections - 17/08/09

The Rapha Condor team has today announced its seven man line up for the Tour of Ireland this week.

Leading the team will be British National Champion, Kristian House, who has just returned from the UCI 2.2 ranked Mi-Aout Bretonne where he demonstrated strong form across the four days of the race, including a third place finish on the second stage.

The other 5 riders who made the trip to Brittany will also join Kristian on the start line in Powerscourt, namely Dan Craven, Chris Newton, Darren Lapthorne, Simon Richardson and Tom Southam.

The final rider in the 7 man squad will be Dean Downing who is a last minute replacement for Ben Greenwood who has still to recover fully from health problems he suffered on the team’s trip to the recent Tour of Quinghai Lake in China.

Team Manager, John Herety, expected his team to perform well in what will be their last stage race before next month’s Tour of Britain where they will be keen to make the most of having the national champion amongst their ranks.

The guys have shown strong form over the last few weeks, Kristian gave the team a huge boost in Abergavenny and that has given us added impetus as we enter the most crucial phase of the season for us. The route in Ireland is challenging and with only three days of racing we can probably expect it to be full gas every day. We’ll take each day as it comes and try to animate the race where the opportunity presents itself.

The Tour of Ireland will also see the debut of the three new sponsors on the team jersey, namely Sharp4Prostate, Malmaison Hotels and Paul Smith Jeans. The new sponsorships were announced at the beginning of August.
