Newton wins Beaumont Trophy · 15/06/10

Chris Newton has won the latest round of the British Premier Calendar, the Beaumont Trophy, to retain his lead in the series.

Leading a break over several circuits based around Stamfordham near Newcastle, Newton proved too strong for his breakaway companions and beat Simon Richardson in the sprint after 103 miles. There is a full report on the British Cycling website:
