As Rapha Condor became Rapha Condor Sharp for the first time on the road in 2010 it was a case of same but different for the Men in Black, as the season got underway Down Under.

A Rapha Condor Sharp rider mixing it up in a crit isn’t in itself a new story, the fact that the rider in question was called Dean will surprise fewer still. But this time it was a Dean by the name of Windsor who scored Rapha Condor Sharp’s first placing of the year as he secured the silver medal at the Australian National Criterium Championships.

Despite being heavily outnumbered by the domestic teams, Dean was one of the animators of the race, making and then helping to split a breakaway group of eight that were dominant.

In the finale it was Windsor who led out the sprint with only Aaron Kemp of his breakaway companions able to overtake him, eventually winning by a bike-length to take the jersey.

Dean’s early season form will no doubt please team manager John Herety who signed Windsor specifically to strengthen the team in the criterium-heavy UK calendar over the next 12 months.
