Rapha Condor Summer Race Series 2 · 03/06/10

Despite the atrocious weather at Hog Hill, Round 2 of the Rapha Condor Summer Race Series was well attended with large fields for both the 3/4 and E1/2/3 line-ups. The bad weather, numerous punctures and a couple of spills on the slippery surface resulted in some hard attacking riding on the day with the fields splitting into several groups and many riders pulling out before the end of the races.

Team Zappi rider, Tamina Oliver took a decisive solo win in the Women’s race and Youth rider Dante Carpenter of the Onelife Cycling Development Squad took the 3/4 race from a daring solo breakaway on the final laps.

Richard Mardle of Felt Colbornes RT broke away with Lewis Atkins of the Orbea – For Goodness Shakes team in the early part of the E1/2/3 race and stayed away for the whole race, with their lead at one point going over one minute ahead of the field. Having done most of the of the pulling for the break-away, Mardle pulled away from Atkins on the last uphill struggle to the line and won with a comfortable margin.

Round 3 of the series will take place on 12 June.
