Onze Bosses 19 June 2010 Report · 23/06/10

The summer club ride started early on a cool, breezy morning outside Barnet Cinema with 16 Club members turning up for a 90-mile ride in the Chiltern Hills and Hertfordshire. The plan for the day was to split the ride in two ability levels, but everyone managed to stay together until the lunch stop with 50-miles covered.

Vehicle support proved useful as one rider lost contact with the rear of the group after a ‘natural break’ in some narrow country lanes and another experiencing a rare tyre blow-out. Lunch was held at the beautifully located La Campana on the other side of Bison Hill with most riders opting for a pasta carbohydrate loading and coffee providing a boost for the second half of the ride.

The riding conditions thus far had been really good, but soon changed for the worse as rain and wind closed in, taking a toll on the riders for the last 20-miles over the final 3 climbs. Overall a very enjoyable Club day out with the Smithfield Nocturne later on in the day providing the icing on the cake.

Onze Bosses Deux is in the planning stages for the 3rd of October, starting and ending in Oxford with some lesser-known difficult climbs thrown in to test the legs. Details to follow in the next few weeks.

Starting out – the group rolling along easily together
