Team Training Camp 2010 - Malaga pt.2
by Paul Rowlands | 03/02/10

It was the first day of full training on the road today and the only time we’ll have all 12 riders together this week. We took the opportunity to get some good pictures with Gerard Brown joining us in the team car to shoot a few pics for the people back at Condor and, if we’re very nice to him, a few for the team website too!

It was great to see the guys out in the new team strip, designed and made by Rapha, the Sharp brand certainly stands out on the jersey and on the new bikes, which in case I haven’t already mentioned, look amazing. Rider feedback seems to be a case of the more I ride it, the more I like it, which is a great endorsement of the work Neil and his team at Condor have put in over the winter.

The team did about 3 hours today, there was some stopping and starting as we got the shots we wanted. There was also the occasional need to stop and tweak handlebar or saddle position as people fine tuned the bike set up that will see them through the next season.

We had a couple of ‘moments’ on the ride today, with both myself and Gerard sat in the boot of the team car, tail gate open wide and camera’s at the ready, we were a little concerned to see the local ‘Guardia Civil’ (AKA: the fuzz) appear behind the team on the road. Fortunately they seemed to be more concerned with overtaking us than stopping us for a health and safety lecture, so we continued on our way.

Behind the scenes it was the first full day of mechanic and soigneur activity, Andy, Beth and Emma fed, rubbed and attended to the riders bodies whilst Andy made sure that bikes will once again be shiny and resplendent on the road tomorrow, he’s also been working on the TT bikes, I’ll get you a picture or two before the week is out.

Tomorrow we split the team in two, the riders who are bound for the Tour of Normandy will ride together as will those riding the Tour of Taiwan, in theory they’ll be 10 minutes apart on the road, wonder how long that’ll last!
